Kinship4Kids 2017 Past Events

An enormous yard sale to clear out all inventory that was being held in four storage lockers was held in May 2017.  The yard sale was successful once again in raising funds for our organization.  This was the final yard sale fundraiser for our organization.

Kinship4Kids 2016 Past Events

St Andrews Catholic Church in Colchester erected a Christmas Giving Tree and hung cards with the name of a gift requested by some of our young children.  Parishioners voluntarily selected cards they were able to fulfill and purchased the gifts and left them under or near the tree.  Kinship4Kids is very grateful to all in St. Andrews parish who participated in this giving program.  Kinship4Kids is also grateful for the volunteers who helped organize all related activities.  It was a huge success

Waterford Speedbowl held their annual Christmas Party and presented Kinship4Kids a wonderful gift.  All Speedbowl participants and staff were asked to bring in a boy or girl gift.  These gifts were donated to Kinship4Kids and with the assistance of the Norwich Department of Children and Family (DCF) were ultimately given to needy foster children.  These gifts were unexpected and helped to give more underprivileged children a wonderful Christmas.

Visual Expressions, 775 Silver Ln, East Hartford, CT 06118 conducted a fund raiser for Kinship4Kids during the 2016 Holiday season.  Through a raffle of a $500 tattoo, Visual Expressions was able to collect a large number of toys.  The entry fee for each chance was a toy (i.e., one toy equals one entry into the raffle.

Two huge fundraising yard sales were conducted, one in the spring and the second in the fall.  Thank you to all who donated and who purchased our items.

The 7th Annual Kinship4kids Charity Fundraiser & Poker Run was held in October 2016.  The run started from the Montville American Legion Post 112, 89 Pink Row, Uncasville, CT.  The poker run benefits foster children in southeastern CT and was another huge success due mostly to the efforts of our organizer, Cynthia Cote..

Kinship4Kids 2015 Past Events

A "Fun Night Out" sponsored by Visual Expressions LLC at 775 Silver Lane in East Hartford CT was held 19 December 2015 from 5 to 11PM.  The fun included a buffet, DJ, raffles and more.

The event was intended to raise funds for disabled veterans, their families and Kinship4Kids.  Entry fee was $10 per person, $15 per couple including one toy to be used as a gift for disadvantaged kids.  A large amount of gifts were collected.  Some were applied to 2015 holiday and the remainder were stored to be used in 2016.

The 6th Annual Kinship4kids Charity Fundraiser & Poker Run was held October 10, 2015.  The run started from the Montville American Legion Post 112, 89 Pink Row, Uncasville, CT.  The poker run benefits foster children in southeastern CT and was a huge success.

Finally, Spare Time and Waterford Speedbowl were generous enough to offer Kinship4Kids an opportunity to place a contribution box or jar at their places of business.  For the Speedbowl, the box was located at the information booth during every race.  At Spare Time, the jar was located at the counter.  Contributions were greatly appreciated.

Two massive yard sales were conducted, one in early May and the second in late September.  They were both hugely successful and we thank all of you who either donated or visited to purchase many of the wonderful items we had on sale.  Kinship4Kids also extends their thanks to the volunteers who helped make the event, including but not limited to the primary movers who delivered and returned items to the storage units, Paul Cote and Mark Cote, sales people Fern Gile, Linda Cote, Cyndie Gauthier, Christina Harmon, Tracy Slocumb and Colleen Boomgarden, and finally, Deborah Harmon who prepared the wonderful meals to help nourish the worker bees.  Please look forward to our next yard sale to be conducted in the spring.  Details will be provided at a later date.  Below you will find some pictures of typical sale items (most of which are sold).

Kinship4Kids 2013 Past Events

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the very successful yard sales that were held in April and September.  Some of you contributed goods for sale but most of you contributed by attending and purchasing items we had to offer.  Please know you are all so precious to Kinship4Kids.  All of you helped give 320 foster children a memorable Holiday season in 2013.

Kinship4Kids 2012 Events

The first Fall Fundraising Yard Sale was held in October and was also a huge success.  Many thanks to all who have donated items for this and for those who purchased items.

The 3rd Annual Kinship4Kids Fundraising Poker Run was held on Saturday, October 13, 2012.  The event was hosted by American Legion Post 112.  Motorcyclists met at the Post on 112 Pink Row in Montville CT, paid their admission (another contribution to aid Kinship4kids), were given basic instructions and Poker Run rules and departed in a roar of engines to go to their first of three checkpoints.  Each biker had received two playing cards to start their poker hand.  They supplemented their card hand by visiting the all checkpoints and picking up one card at each stop.  At the end of the run, the biker with the best poker hand is declared the winner.  The fall poker run provided an excellent opportunity for bikers to enjoy the cool crisp air and to take in the fall foliage.  At the conclusion, all bikers and any additional riders ended up back at Post 112 to enjoy a buffet meal of items donated my bikers or their spouses.  :Prizes were awarded for various categories.  A disk jockey played records for background entertainment and bikers commiserated with their friends who also participated.  It was glorious fun for all who attended.  Kinship4Kids appreciates the loyalty shown by American Legion Post 112 for their continuing annual support and particularly appreciates the efforts of Cyndie Cote who came up with the idea of this fundraiser and has been an enthusiastic organizer of the event and all of its nuances over the past three years.  Finally, Kinship4Kids wishes to express their thanks to all who participated.  Without the riders, this event would not have been successful.

The fourth annual Fundraising Yard Sale was held the in April 2012 and was a huge success.  Many thanks to all who have donated items for this and for those who purchased items.  This is one of our more important fund raising activities every year.
